Fall Lessons Start August 17th!

Hi friends!

It is officially August and we are quickly approaching the start to the fall semester. I hope everyone has had both a peaceful and exciting summer filled with rest and adventure!

Since we are so close to the beginning of the semester, I thought I would send a quick email to break down how weekly, bi-weekly, and package lessons work along with the intro lesson.

Intro Lesson

If you have never taken a lesson with me, then this is where it begins! I do this first because well, committing to a whole semester of lessons is a lot! The intro lesson is a way for me to figure out what would be best for your student. I’ll talk about this more below, but every student has different needs and the length/style of the lesson has a lot to do with how successful the student is in the learning process.

Lesson Packages

This is the ideal option for students who want to be in lessons, but can’t commit to a weekly time. Packages are sorta like lesson tokens! Students can grab any available time on the calendar using their package “tokens”. You can schedule them all at once or one at a time. They also never expire!

Bi-Weekly Lessons

I actually want to spend some time hyping up bi-weekly lessons because well.. here’s the thing... after 6 years of teaching, it is my humble opinion that students in DFW are some of the busiest students well... perhaps in the whole entire world. Don’t quote me on this because I really haven’t researched it, but I don’t think there’s a parent in DFW who would disagree!

The thing with piano and singing is that they’re motor skills. It takes time to build these skills, and they can’t only be built in the studio. Practicing is what makes all the wires connect so students can expirence the big burst of energy that is music! Did I mention I teach songwriting too.... 😄

Sometimes doing bi-weekly lessons is actually more affective than weekly lessons, because it gives students the gift of time. If having lessons every other week would increase your students practice time, then I would defintely consider bi-weekly lessons!

Weekly Lessons

I recently started taking guitar lessons, and it has humbled me. When I get out of my lesson, i’m so excited to practice guitar! The first few days I am practicing all the time and then... I get busy... or tired... or distracted.. You know how it goes! Then my lesson comes around and I practice as much as I can right before my lesson so I can look like a good student!

I could white knuckle my discipline and be the ideal perfect student who practices all the time, but what fun would that be? Then I couldn’t tell you about this really cool book!

In “Learn Faster, Perform Better” by Molly Gebrian, she talks about how the brain actually needs time without actively using information to process it. That little bit of space between practicing, has actually been proven to show greater results than a steady practice schedule.

If your student sounds like me, then weekly lessons are perfect for them!

If you are interested in more information, then feel free to reach out to me and we can get your student on the schedule! I hope everyone has an amazing week and I look forward to seeing you in the studio soon! Happy singing!
