About Carly

Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Carly and I would love to be your vocal coach!

I graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2020 with a BFA in Musical Theatre, and started teaching right out of college. It started out as a way for me to support myself while I was prepping for musical theatre auditions and promoting my singer-songwriter career, but the more I learned about teaching… the more I just could not get enough of it!

I spent night after night reading about the voice, signing up for workshops and researching. I was starting to make sense of something that I always found frustrating as a young performer. We have a lot more control over our voices than we think we do.

Singing is often attributed to talent. There are so many cliches around that statement alone that singers have been internalizing since well… the beginning of singing! Getting the privilege of working with over 200 students in my career, I can definitely attest that our ideas behind talent are deeply flawed and usually tied up in our own shame ridden and perfectionistic tendency.

That is why my main priority as your vocal coach is to give you agency. Your voice really can do things that you never could have imagined it could do! We will work together to approach your vocal training from a place of self compassion and curiosity.

Making the decision to sign up for lessons can feel scary, but if you make the decision to be vulnerable and take the plunge, then I would be absolutely honored to be your coach!
